報告摘要：

Many firms have recently allowed consumer engagement in their sustainable packaging program, where consumers can contribute to reducing the environmental impact via packaging-free purchase. In this paper, we develop a stylized model to study the impacts of consumer engagement on a firm's product pricing and packaging decisions and the resulting environmental implications. We further study one common government regulation, i.e., the ban on unsustainable packaging. Our main results follow. First, a profit-maximizing firm should not allow for consumer engagement if the size of eco-conscious consumers is significantly large. When it does implement the packaging-free program, the firm may need to offer participating consumers a discount larger than the save in packaging cost. Second, allowing consumers to engage in packaging-free purchases may hurt the overall environment. Third, the effectiveness of the unsustainable packaging ban in reducing overall environmental impact is not necessarily monotone with respect to the population's average preference for the environment; in particular, the government regulation may lead to an increase in total environmental impact when the size of eco-conscious segment in the market is moderate.

陳劍教授現(xiàn)任清華大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)管理學(xué)院管理科學(xué)與工程系聯(lián)想講席教授，清華大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)管理學(xué)院管理科學(xué)與工程系系主任, 教育部人文社會科學(xué)重點(diǎn)研究基地——清華大學(xué)現(xiàn)代管理研究中心主任，國務(wù)院學(xué)位委員會第七屆學(xué)科評議組成員，教育部高等學(xué)校管理科學(xué)與工程類專業(yè)教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會秘書長。主要研究方向：供應(yīng)鏈管理、電子商務(wù)、商務(wù)智能等。主持五十余個國家自然科學(xué)基金委、教育部、863等國家部委項(xiàng)目，以及地方政府/企業(yè)委托項(xiàng)目；在國內(nèi)外學(xué)術(shù)期刊上發(fā)表論文二百多篇。應(yīng)邀在多個國際會議上做大會報告（Keynote/Plenary Lecture）。獲得過多項(xiàng)科技獎勵及榮譽(yù)稱號，如國際電氣和電子工程師協(xié)會會士；教育部長江學(xué)者；首屆復(fù)旦管理學(xué)獎；全國優(yōu)秀博士學(xué)位論文指導(dǎo)教師；國家杰出青年科學(xué)基金；IBM學(xué)院獎等。在多個學(xué)術(shù)組織中任職，如擔(dān)任生產(chǎn)和運(yùn)營管理學(xué)會（POMS）副理事長（負(fù)責(zé)亞太區(qū)，2010-2012），IEEE系統(tǒng)、人與控制論學(xué)會服務(wù)系統(tǒng)和組織專業(yè)委員會主席(2002-)，中國系統(tǒng)工程學(xué)會副理事長(2006-2014)，中國優(yōu)選法統(tǒng)籌法與經(jīng)濟(jì)數(shù)學(xué)研究會副理事長(2006-2014)，中國管理現(xiàn)代化研究會副理事長(2016-)，中國管理學(xué)科與工程學(xué)會副理事長(2017-)等。也是許多國際會議的主席/共同主席（例如：2004年第一屆國際服務(wù)系統(tǒng)和服務(wù)管理會議主席、2007年INFORMS制造和服務(wù)運(yùn)作管理學(xué)會年會共同主席(MSOM07)、2012年INFORMS國際大會主席等），同時擔(dān)任多個國際學(xué)術(shù)刊物的編委。
