The presentation gives an overview of what patents are and how to obtain them. The second half of the talk will discuss some recent success stories of companies that were founded on the basis of intellectual property created at universities, with a particular focus on companies developing vaccines against Covid-19.

報告人簡介：

Jens Grabenstein is a Life Sciences patent attorney with 13 years of experience in non-contentious and contentious patent matters. He enjoy the intellectual challenge of accompanying research, regulatory and commercial teams in their endeavour to turn a scientific discovery into a medicine that improves people’s lives. His experience stretches from the initial invention harvesting and patent drafting to the defence of patents in both opposition proceedings and multi-jurisdictional patent litigation. His passion is to help companies build strong patent portfolios from the ground up, covering all stages from the initial discovery, to product development and manufacturing. He currently works as a Senior Associate in the Life Sciences practice group at Carpmaels & Ransford in London.
